Here is Nathan with his teacher Miss Cohen.
Due to our August Adventures, Nathan started school a week late. As many of you know, Nathan has a phonological speech delay. The speech therapists who originally evaluated Nathan said that it would take two years to get him back on track. Well, he has been working really hard for a year now, and he is making excellent progress. To continue with the progression, this year he will be attending a preschool through our school district that is focused solely on helping children with speech disorders. It is an excellent program. He is in a class with one other child (the maximum allowed in the class is six). He is taught by a speech therapist who has an assistant so basically he is getting one on one attention. His favorite part of the school is getting to ride the big yellow school bus. It picks and drops off Nathan right in front our house. On the first day he ran to the bus without even saying goodbye. I didn't expect the flood of emotions that came next. I started crying, because him getting on that bus is a witness that he is growing up. I enjoy seeing him experience new things in life. He is a great kid, and I am so blessed to have him, Noelle and Jeremy in my life.

Wow, that is such a great program for him. How nice to have them pick him up right in front of your house. I don't even want to think about Dylan getting big enough to start school.
That is awesome that they have such a great program! And that he was so unafraid to get on the bus the first day! How crazy taht he's so big though!
Nathan your doing great and some day you will be giving talks at church. I love to hear you talk and your getting better all the time. I love you sooooo much.
Grandma
I still get a little choked up when ace leaves, he is so big climbing on the big yellow school bus! That is great that nathan is improving, I LOVE the extra help the districts offer, it has changed my life!!! Ace is amazing now, I had no idea!
I still can't believe he gets to ride a bus. He must love it!!! That teacher to student ratio is over the top - lucky!! Thanks for being a friend Sus- you are awesome.
How great for him to be in such an awesome program! he is a doll!
I know exactly how you feel. Going to help in Trevor's class the other day and seeing him in a totally different way was hard for me. He does things in school every day that I don't get to see or experience and next year it will be all day long! Sometimes I wish there was a hidden camera so I could just watch him. He just seemed so grown up to me sitting there doing his work with no concern that I was in the classroom. It made me a little sad :( Wait until next year when Nathan is gone every day - we'll have a pitty party!
geeze...i must be an emotional wreck or something. Reading about how big Nathan is getting is getting me all choked up! I suppose I am imagining myself with Hendrix getting on the big bus. How awesome though that he loves it so much. That's great too that he is in such a fantastic program.
