Tears of Joy

After attending four colleges, changing majors many times, working, partying way too much, getting married, and having two children, I have finally graduated. Ten years ago, a naive girl was finishing her first semester at UNR. Today, I finished my last semester at UNLV. As I anticipated this day, I knew I would feel relief. Little did I know that I would cry as I walked to my car after completing my last test as an undergrad student. No, I didn't cry because I bombed the test. I cried because as I reflected over the past ten years of my life, I realized what an accomplishment it was for me to get my B.S. I know many people graduate every semester, but this is the semester that I am graduating. That said, I'd like to toot my own horn for a moment. "Toot, toot!!" Thanks for letting me do that, and I want to also thank my husband, family, and friends for all of their help and sacrifices on this behalf. I couldn't have done this without all of you.

FYI, I am not walking. I will have a B.S. in Kinesiology (sports medicine) with a minor in psychology. I do want to go to graduate school at some point in my life, but that won't be for some time. I am very excited about being a mom and picking up some other hobbies.

Yeah. You are inspiring. Listen up other women - just do it. Whether it takes 4 or 15 years it is worth it. Like I've said before - no one ever regrets their education. Congrats Susie. You deserve a little break or at least a few relaxing weeks with your hubby.

Fine work young lady. Ready to start again in the spring? Yeah right, I'm not! You are a great example to those around you and like Heidi said, you inspire me too. In addition to that, Heidi also said to spend some time with your hubby, so you better plan on doing that too.

I am so happy for you! 10 years just means you worked so much harder to get where you are. Considering what you have accomplished beyond school, 10 years really isn't that long…congrats!

I admire mothers of any age who complete their schooling ... Congrats! I didn't get married until after I graduated, and seriously don't know if I would have the stick-to-itiveness to do it. Time passes no matter what you do--so you might as well do something!
