What I'm Not

... is an artist, crafty, or talented with my hands. A few years ago, I vowed to never endeavor in the making of a gingerbread house. While I love and appreciate looking at great art and other fun creations, I know my capabilities. Even my stick figures are pathetic. Until this year, I've kept Nathan clueless of the make your own gingerbread kits. Thank you Albertson's for displaying yours in the doorway this year. Momentarily forgeting the consequence of my action, I bought Nathan one. I am so grateful that he is still at least clueless to his mother's lack of artistic skill. I'm also grateful for not being able to find my camera. We did have a fun time together while making it. I know that is what counts, but until he wants to do more than eat the candy and tell me where to put everything, we will find other ways to spend quality time together. I'll have to think of a reason why not to buy the stupid thing next year since I know some store will put them right in front of my son's eyes, or I could always pay for Aunt Emily to fly down to Vegas. What an expensive Gingerbread house that would be, but totally worth avoiding the humiliation of my own house.

I'm the same way! I have seen those at Smith's but I walk the opposite direction and hope that Colin won't see it and ask for it. I always say to them though, "Oh, that's not on our list."

Susie I saw the house and it did not look that bad. You are underestmating your self. Besides the icing they put in the kit is horrible. I went a nd bought some other icing at the store.

Haha. Actually, I suck at gingerbread houses too. They end up as a crooked mess of lumpy frosting and half-buried candy. My older sister was always the gingerbread house queen - she put on the little icicles and the candy windows and all that stuff. She could also color inside the lines. And sew pretty princess dresses. But she got a finance degree and I ended up the family "artist." How does that work, lol?

You are so funny! This year we make gingerbread bears instead. I am tired of making the same gingerbread houses year after year.
Hope you have a great 2009!

how funny. I deprive my children of so many cool toys I am sure they would love to have but I am not willing to deal with the noise or the cleanup it will require or the space!
